Londen | Op de posters bij David Hockney's tentoonstelling in de Royal Academy prijkt de uitleg: 'All the works here were made by the artist himself, personally.'

In een interview met Radio Times bevestigde Hockney dat deze sneer bedoeld is naar Damien Hirst, die vanaf april een solotentoonstelling in Tate Modern heeft. Hockney: "It's a little insulting to craftsmen. I used to point out, at art school you can teach the craft; it's the poetry you can't teach. But now they try to teach the poetry and not the craft."
