Londen | De tentoonstelling
'Picasso and Modern British Art' die op 15 februari in
Tate Britain opent, zal volgens
The Telegraph onthullen dat de Spaanse schilder een groot liefhebber van
Engeland was. In de zomer van 1919 bracht
Picasso tien dagen in
Londen door om het decor en de kostuums te ontwerpen voor
The Three-Cornered Hat van
Ballet Russes.
Englishness
Chris Stephens, curator moderne Britse kunst en hoofd tentoonstellingen van
Tate Britain: “Picasso developed a fascination with “Englishness” during his visit in 1919. He asked his friend, the art critic and curator Clive Bell to take him on shopping trips to Savile Row and the East End, where he would buy suits, watch chains and bowler hats, which began his lifelong love affair with British style.”
