The Art Newspaper voelde Grayson Perry aan de tand, naar aanleiding van zijn tentoonstelling in het British Museum die een maand is verlengd. De kunstenaar vertelt over zijn keuze voor keramiek, zijn keuze voor humor en zijn keuze voor drag. Bovendien legt hij uit waarom hij folk art verkiest boven fine art.

Having a joke

Over de humor vertelt hij: 'I’m just projecting myself. I can’t resist having a joke. Artists I like, such as Breughel, put jokes in their work. I think it’s part of reflecting human life. I also think that the English don’t like you to be earnest, so you have to put in a little signal to your tribe.'
